Photographer’s Spotlight: Mark Mawson – Aqueous Electreau

Art

Greetings, fellow humans! How are you all doing today?

You all should know that I love to feature art and photos here on NIA SPEAKS. Though I have had blog posts solely for the artwork of particular artists, I have yet to do a post solely on one photographer’s work – until now.

Lately, I’ve been contacting photographers to see if they’d like to be a part of my new feature, “Photographer’s Spotlight.” I will use this feature to showcase the talent of my photographer of choice.

First up is Mark Mawson, a man whose work I happened to stumble upon last week. Thankfully, he agreed to be my first feature.

From markmawson.com:

“Mark is an international award-winning photographer with 21 years of experience in capturing a full spectrum of people and places and specialises in shooting people underwater.

His Aqueous work has become very collectable and his recent series ‘Aqueous Fluoreau’ went viral at the beginning of 2012.

He is represented by several galleries and his personal work is in many private collections around the world.

2009 Sovereign Asian Art Awards – Finalist
2010 International Aperture Awards – Silver
2010 Dabomba Creative Awards – Platinum & Gold
2011 Dabomba Creative Awards – Gold

Mark has recently been shortlisted for the London Awards for Art and Performance 2012.

Mark’s Aqueous video was projected onto the walls of Buckingham Palace in front of The Queen for the backdrop of Sir Paul McCartney’s “Magical Mystery Tour”, part of the diamond jubilee celebrations.”

His work was presented in front of Her Majesty! That is so huge! I’m just happy he replied to my email!

Okay, okay. I’ll post the photos now. The following photos are under Mr. Mawson’s “Aqueous Electreau” section. If I understand correctly, this is ink underwater.

Isn’t this amazingly beautiful? Don’t be surprised if you see Mark Mawson featured here again.
