Sleep Is Over

Uncategorized

I just recently met a senior who has a full ride scholarship to a first tier law school. That’s awesome.

You need three things to get into a first tier law school: An excellent GPA, an amazing personal statement, and a great LSAT score.

Here’s the twist: this senior has NOT taken her LSAT yet.

WHAT?

I was amazed. How? How? How did you do that?

I thought I was doing something by getting a law firm internship after my freshman year of college. I thought I was making moves by taking LSAT prep classes now, rather than waiting until my senior year. I thought I was going above and beyond by reading through my Black’s Law Dictionary.

No.

Everything I did that I thought was awesome was immediately overshadowed.

Okay. Challenge accepted.

You all know that I’m competitive. I’m not necessarily competing with others. It’s just me against me…kind of.

This senior’s accomplishments were used as a slap in my face.

I’m doing a lot, but I’m not doing enough. I’m doing a lot, but I need to do more.

For a while, it will be said that Nia doesn’t sleep; Nia naps.

Sleeping is over for me now.

Everything in my life is going up.

My spirituality, my violin proficiency, my musicality period…

My health…

The amount of studying hours, the number of smiles I give, the number of compliments I give…

My productivity…

The amount of blog views…

My network connections, my scholarship applications, my job applications, the money in my bank account (please the money in my bank account)…

The number of people I help, the number of people I love.

It starts now. I’m claiming it now. It’s not about sleep anymore. It’s about success.

Red eyes. Bright future. Love the grind.

Hopefully, I can make this work.
