Song of the Month: "Hello" by Adele

My song of the month is “Hello” by Adele. The song literally just came out, but my goodness. How could it not be my or anybody’s song of the month? Earlier this week, the London-born singer teased the world with a 30-second clip of the first stanza, then later announced that her new album, 25, will be out on 20 November. “My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record,” Adele wrote in the most beautiful paragraphs I have read this week. She released the song and music video today. “Hello” is Adele’s first single in three years.

The slow, powerful ballad is the outpouring of a woman attempting to reconcile with a past lover. Adele’s voice is sultry and strong (as if we did not already know this), and she immediately captivates you at the first “Hello.” Emotions were and are flooding since listening to this song. I cannot wait to hear what the entire album brings. Welcome back, Adele.
