Song of the Month: "Sorry" by Beyoncé

Music

My song of the month is “Sorry” by Beyoncé. Let me be honest: I wanted to make the whole bloody Lemonade Album of the Month (and I really could. It is my blog), but for the sake of consistency, I picked one song. It was a bloody difficult choice, too. Lemonade is such an incredible body of work, a beautiful work of art. I did a brief post on why on Facebook, and this article and especially this one express my and others’ feelings about the album more than perfectly. So read those.

Anyway, I had to pick one song, which was difficult because I love them all. I happen to be listening to “Sorry” the most. It is a great song, and not just because of the great “Becky with the good hair” line. This song, with a double entendre wrapped in the full meaning of Lemonade, is an unapologetic declaration that “I ain’t sorry,” to put it simply. And I needed this song. Because I tend to apologize for things for which I have no reason apologizing. Melodically, it is great. Lyrically, I love it. Visually, it is fun (Serena Williams slayed). Please get the visual album, if you have not already. Enjoy not just “Sorry,” but all of Lemonade.
