My song of the month is “Autumn Leaves” by Leslie Odom Jr. from his self-titled debut album. Leslie Odom Jr. is an actor and singer who has performed on Broadway, television, and film who is probably best-known for playing Aaron in the musical Hamilton, a performance for which he won this year’s Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
“Autumn Leaves” is a very popular song that has been covered countless times since its creation in 1945. Odom’s version was released in June, ahead of his jazz album. The rendition is smooth and warm with Odom’s swooning, sultry voice. As we’re in the last half of October and slowly dripping into Autumn and its weather, the song continues to fit incredibly well.
