My song of the month is “Last Love Song” by ZZ Ward. I first discovered Ward when I heard this song during an episode of Switched at Birth. I looked up the song immediately to listen to it and haven’t stopped playing it since. The ballad is from Ward’s album, Til the Casket Drops.
“Last Love Song” is like a farewell letter to a past lover; and the lyrics are so relatable because we all, at some point, have had to let go of someone we loved. I really like the production of this record. It starts with an acoustic guitar and vocals. Piano chords come in, followed by strings and a drum beat. The melody is beautiful and Ward’s voice is captivating.
Enjoy.
