My song of the month is “Paper Hearts” by Tori Kelly. Anybody who knows me knows that I adore Tori Kelly. This song is the fourth track of Kelly’s second EP, Foreword, released in October 2013; and I’ve been obsessed with it since its first play on my iTunes on the day dropped.
“Paper Hearts” is a song of reflection on a past lover. The song is primarily composed of vocals, guitar, and other strings, and its speaker is (perhaps imaginatively) recounting memories to the past lover, hoping that neither of them will forget the love and times they had. Kelly has a beautiful voice, and the music video is just as beautiful as the song, as I enjoyed Ian Eastwood’s dancing.
