Song of the Month: “Piece by Piece (Idol Version)” by Kelly Clarkson

My song of the month is “Piece by Piece (Idol Version)” by Kelly Clarkson. The song has been around since last year, but last month, Clarkson performed a special rendition of the number on American Idol. I knew of the song, but had not listened to it until I saw the video of her Idol performance. I was emotional, and my eyes were literally welling with tears.

In this song, Clarkson is speaking to her father and juxtaposed his abandonment with her husband’s love for her and their daughter. It is such a beautiful song, truly.
