Linda Celeste Sims

Linda Celeste Sims is probably my absolute favorite company member from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The first time I saw her was when I saw the above photo on a billboard and in the playbill for the first Alvin Ailey show I attended. This picture somehow caused me to want to appreciate the art of dance. So, thanks Linda!

Linda Celeste Sims began her dance training at Ballet Hispanico School of Dance, and she graduated from LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts. According to Rollingout.com, she loved to dance, always wanted to be a ballerina, and music was playing in her house all the time. Linda made it into the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater after her first audition in 1996 before even going to the Ailey School.

Are you looking at her figure though? I would love to have her shape and be in that physical condition! I swear, dancers have some of the best bodies. Anyways, she says she stays fit by going to the gym, swimming, and cycling. She eats everything in moderation, and gets facials and massages to keep her skin beautiful.

Linda’s husband, Glenn Allen Sims, is also an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater member.

According to alvinailey.org, Linda was awarded by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts in 1994. She has been highlighted in the “Best of 2009” list in Dance Magazine, and has performed as a guest star on “So You Think You Can Dance”, “Dancing with the Stars”, and “The Today Show.” She has appeared at the Youth America Grand Prix, Vail International Dance Festival, andgalas in Budapest and Vienna. In 2010, she appeared at the White House in the September of 2010 to tribute Judith Jamison at First Lady Michelle Obama’s Dance Workshop.

In the June of 2010, Linda was named Assistant to the Rehearsal Director. Clearly, Linda Celeste Sims is very beautiful, very talented, and an inspiration to many. She is also still young, so I expect her to continue dancing for a long time.
