Song of the Month: “Imagine” by Pentatonix

Music

My song of the month is “Imagine” by Pentatonix. I wouldn’t usually choose songs by the same artist(s) twice in a row, but this is an exception. Earlier this month, Pentatonix released a video and cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” to announce their upcoming album, PTX, Vol. IV – Classics.

Pentatonix delivered an incredibly amazing arrangement. I especially love how the it opens up towards the end with explosively beautiful harmony. Even still, more beautiful than Lennon’s words or the fabulous arrangement was the visual in the video itself.

Scott Hoying, a member of the group, posted what I feel sums this up perfectly:
“Ever since our group started 6 years ago, I have always been incredibly inspired by how harmoniously the 5 of us can work together on everything. (Performing, arranging, career planning etc). Despite our varying races, religious beliefs, sexual orientations, genders, & political views, we are able to live as one & RESPECT each other.

Our nation (and world) feels more divisive than ever, and we believed it was important to take advantage of our ability to showcase that diversity IS harmony.”

Enjoy. And remember that though we are different, we are alike. We are all human.
